
Long before the Stonewall rebellion, well before anyone ever dared fight for gay liberation or celebrate Pride, an LGBTQ identity could sometimes, just sometimes, act like a remarkable passport. In the 1920s and 30s black Harlemites went to Britain, seeking new experiences, opportunities and lovers.
